Dude what happened to Q94. Did they change formats or something?
Ray, it looks like it's up to You and GO106 to keep rock n roll on the airwaves of the Triplex. Be Strong.

Q94 changed format a few weeks ago. I actually don't mind it. I can suffer through some hip hop if I know that they are going to play some modern rock songs.

It was actually last tuesday. Travis Brashiers called me in the middle of the day to ask if I'd been listening to the radio. He was almost crying. And Rob, the only rock song I'd heard at this point was one of those Staind songs that sound like all their other hits. What the &$*@ is that? Why does a band do a style for years, put out a softer song on their 6th album, and all of a sudden every damn thing you hear out of them is that same style. Goo Goo Dolls are a prime example. They toiled for years, going nowhere with their true love, Replacements - style Alt punk. Released "Name" had a big hit with it, and ever since every song has sounded exactly the same as Name. I know, go with what works, but try to keep a little integrity.
I, as well, believe in shameless self-promotion.

The new owners of QZK 94.1, West Virginia Broadcasting or Radio or something like that, made a business decision to change the format to a true CHR (contemporary hit radio). Expect to hear more current rock like The Fray, All American Rejects, The Darkness, My Chemical Romance, and other flavor of the month rockers along with Christina Aguilera, Fergie, Pussycat Dolls, Gwen Stefani, and Beyonce. The music is going to change with the taste of our American Teens so it's going to be an extremely volatile, but at times, fun format.
P.S. My next new business venture will be ear plugs for radio listeners. Push once to let music in, push again to block annoying crap. Who's with me?

Travis asked me about it also, Aaron. He has Sirius Radio, so I'm not sure why he was listening to Q94. He didn't take it very well though. The Goo Goo Dolls had released a semi-punk song as a single, and "Name" was the b-side. A DJ decided to flip it over and play the b-side, and the rest is history. I actually like their album "Gutterflower". It's the CD with "Here is Gone" on it. I do have a problem when people say that "all of their songs sound the same", although I do agree with what Aaron said about Staind. A band like U2 has a very distinct sound, and I hear people say "all of their songs sound the same". They sound like that because The Edge has a certain way of writing. I like hearing people say "Alter Bridge sounds just like Creed". Of course they sound like Creed, Alter Bridge is 3/4th of the original Creed lineup. All bands have a certain sound, and they're songs will sound similair because of the amps and guitars they use. This is why we listen to different bands, because they all don't sound the same. U2 sounds nothing like Disturbed, and Disturbed sounds nothing like Audioslave. If you aren't happy with the band you are listening to, just put a new CD in or switch radio stations. I know first hand how tough it is to go in different musical directions when one person is responsible for writing the music. When Randy was with us, he would get into a rutt sometimes and everything sounded the same. That's where I came in, and now that it's just Dustin and I we kind of share the writing credits. Dustin's input makes me look at things differently.

well first off as far as goo goo dolls go, they started out hardcore punk, and then there was name, and i can never forget seeing that interview with that bed-headed ass that said oh of course its the soft song, well screw it, we're not gonna be writing ne more songs like that again. and then like 3 years after i saw that particular interview clip, Iris came out and so on. However its my own personal taste , now if you want to talk about a band who sucks for writing the same song over again, take a copy of nickelbacks, how you remind me, then get a copy of some day, and press play at the same time, it is the same song, same drums same break downs, even ends the same witht he except that someday fades out. Now i condemn them because i myself, when i write a song, if i notice the same chords crossing over too much, i scrap it immediately. I know it can be tough coming up with new stuff, but the fact remains that if you find urself writing the same song, ya just stop. Unless ur playing in theold blues style. A 12 bar and what not. And sadly, if ya don't like whats on the radio here, ya do need a cd player, i don't like country, and i don't like rap, and i don't like my chemical romance and bands around that area, And frankly if i hear One more mix of pinkfloyd followed by any one of 17 billyjoel songs i'm gonna want to nuke the whole town. And this area has such a mix of tastes i'm kind of surprised that there isn't a radio station (apart from frostburgs station) that plays a different style every night. I miss the days when they did that, instead of just one particular style for each station, it was a mix of nething through out the day. oh well theres always AM.
its so relieveing to know that youre leaving as soon as you get paid

You can learn a lot by listening to the radio stations in this area. The main lesson is "what not to listen to", followed by "songs bands shouldn't play".

Like I said, I'm not a fan of the radio stations in this area. I do listen to 1270am, though. News radio is very informative. If you don't like Nickelback, don't listen to them, lol.
